Is punch needling easy to learn?

There are a few things to keep in mind when learning how to do it, such as the type of fabric you're working with, the needle size and the type of thread you're using. Although punch needle embroidery is not difficult to learn, it does require some practice to perfect the technique. Can you use a punch needle on any fabric?

Theoretically, you can use punch needle embroidery on any fabric, but some fabrics are better suited for this type of embroidery than others. The best fabrics to use for punch needle embroidery are tightly woven and have a smooth surface, such as cotton, linen and wool work well for this type of embroidery. 

It is not easy to use punch needling on stretchy fabrics such as Lycra or spandex, but if you intend to do it, you’ll likely need to use a stabiliser when working with these fabrics.
